Platform Bewonersbedrijven

Platform Bewonersbedrijven is a rather new project initiated by Social Enterprise NL and LSA, the Dutch association of community initiatives. Bewonersbedrijven brings together Dutch community enterprises, many of which are place-based businesses that directly impact local communities. 

Bewonersbedrijven are enterprises with a sustainable business model that are owned by local communities. They generate their own income through a solid revenue model. As a result, bewonersbedrijven become less dependent on public subsidies and financial support from foundations and philanthropic funds. The community becomes more independent and is able to determine its own course. Any profits flow back to the neighborhood. Many community enterprises obtain paid orders from the local government or housing associations, sell their own products and services and make an important contribution to the local economy and society.
